Oregon MarineMap

On behalf of the MarineMap Consortium, Ecotrust was retained by the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development in July of 2010 (with funding from the Oregon Wave Energy Trust and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife) to lead the development of Oregon MarineMap to support the State’s marine spatial planning efforts. More specifically, Goal 19 of Oregon’s Territorial Sea Plan requires the State “to conserve marine resources and ecological functions for the purpose of providing long-term ecological, economic, and social value and benefits to future generations.” Oregon MarineMap will allow users to collectively explore and analyze marine geospatial information to identify suitable areas for renewable ocean energy with consideration for existing uses and the conservation of marine resources and ecological functions.
