Northwest Energy Innovations (NWEI) is conducting a feasibility study to assess the financial viability of conducting a grid-connected, small-scale (1 to 10 MW) demonstration of the Wave Energy Technology-New Zealand (WET-NZ) technology in the Oregon territorial sea and connected to an Oregon utility. NWEI is receiving financial assistance from USDOE and OWET to help further validate the technical performance of the technology under separate programs. The feasibility study will help further establish the business case for an in-ocean demonstration of the WET-NZ wave energy converter in Oregon.
